The Wellness Center at Hopkins North Middle School School is open Wednesdays after school, from 2:45 to 4:30 p.m. Students will have access to either a school social worker, counselor or psychologist at no cost.

Want to maintain your Wellness? Make sure you (students) are completing your weekly Friday advisory lesson Suite 360. Suite360 provides students with information and techniques to support self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationships skills, and responsible decision-making. In addition, the program addresses specific topics such as cyberbullying, academic success, substance abuse and many other challenges students and communities face. Self-Management Tips

Having trouble organizing yourself? Here are a few tips to help you:

Make a schedule for yourself each day, include meal times & breaks. Make sure you take your breaks even if it’s only a few minutes.
Have a movement break each day even if it’s just a few minutes to stretch.
Take device breaks and shut off all devices 1 hour before bedtime.
Reach out to friends, trusted adults or Wellness Center staff if you need a listening ear & support.

Journaling 101

What’s so great about Journaling? Journaling can help you sort out your thoughts & feelings when there is no one available to help you talk through an issue or if you want to keep that issue private. Writing it out helps you become an outside observer to your thoughts. This is a great mindfulness activity! We have many journals to choose from so email Ms. Flowers if you’d like to pick one up.

Diet & Sleep

Make sure you are getting enough sleep each night. When our bodies don’t get enough sleep at night, it negatively impacts our mood and learning. Make sure you are getting 8-10 hours of sleep each night. If you want info on how to set up a routine or learn about calming things to do at night, email a Wellness center staff person. We have lots of ideas you could try!

Just like sleep, eating a healthy diet is very important for mood & learning. We all know fruits, vegetables and protein are essential to maintain our physical health. Think of your body as a plant - we need to feed & water in order to grow.

If you want more information on eating healthy email a Wellness Center Staff person for some ideas. If your family could use help with getting food each month we work with a fantastic local food shelf that can help!
