7th grade Language & Literature Team hosted Dr. Stanley Brown

The North Junior High Language and Literature 7 team hosted Dr. Stanley Brown this week as a guest speaker to introduce the context of an upcoming unit revolving around Community, Identity, and Perspective.

The topics discussed included voting rights both historic and present-day, the evolution of language used to describe race in our country and changes in our education system.

Students generated questions before his visit.  During his visit, he brought primary source documents for students to look at as he shared his own lived experiences.

Students were engaged and curious and were heard talking about his visit days after meeting him. A truly enjoyable experience.
